Where do you get your seeds?

I've tried to do a little reading here and there, to see if I'm setting myself up for sorrow, by buying store packets.  I've heard that catalog seeds are better, and sometimes have a gurantee that something will grow, versus the store packets.  Also, that the ones in stores may be old stock, or expired.  I bought all mine from Menards (all for the 2008 growing season) because, if I had ordered from the Guernseys catalog like I had wanted to, I had $180+ in seeds/plants that I wanted  shocked

I've been planning on having a garden the past few years, and it always falls through.  Last year, I was just too preoccupied with our little guy's care, and now, I think I'm a little more "settled" so I'm going for it.  I didn't want to go extravagant though, this year, since it's been a few years since I've had a garden and I want to do things right.

I still want some fruit trees, darn it, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for that yet.  I'm so afraid of killing them.  Apples grow really well up here, but I want a peach and cherry tree, and have heard they can thrive well, as long as they are properly cared for.  Ooh boy, I'm getting over my head already, lol!

Re: Where do you get your seeds?

That sounds like an awesome mix!  Did you pick all of them out, or do they have "packages" where you get a variety of things?  Maybe I should haul my butt over to their site...haha

Re: Where do you get your seeds?

Most of mine come from:
www.seedsofchange.com
www.territorialseed.com

Also a few things have come from the South Carolina Seed Association. http://virtual.clemson.edu/groups/seed/heirloom.htm
My butterbean seed came from my FIL, he and his late father have grown it for many years.

Re: Where do you get your seeds?

Wild, I hear you on the payment part, I like to just click and be done, lol!  I may have to check them out for next year though, since I already have my seeds.  I can maybe do a comparison through the season, show pictures of my "store packet plants"  rotflol

Hencackle, thanks for the links, I will check them out smile

Re: Where do you get your seeds?

I get mine from a store here in Sanford. Since we are a country town, we can get good quality seeds sold by the oz. and they sell the prettiest plants too.
