Re: Scientology

Was this intended as a debate or a discussion.
If its a debate or a discussion, I don't think I'm qualified to answer since I'm not "clear" and besides I didn't watch the video's, hide  I had a room mate that was into Scientology at one point, I thought the tone scale was kinda interesting, might even come in handy on the board... if you could read peoples tones over the internet rotflol doh

Anyway, let me know and I'll either leave this here or move it to the religion forum.

Re: Scientology

I guess it'd be a discussion. smile I just want to hear peoples opinions on it, what they think of the videos (which could totally be biased for all I know), ect.

Re: Scientology

I usually stay clear of these aposts.  Spirituality is a very personal thing
and must be found on one's own.

I tried reading Dianetics but couldn't get past page 50 or so.  Don't get it.

Re: Scientology

Im with PC on this one. I tried as well to read the book about 9 times, and couldnt get it to stick in my head. Much of what i read seemed to differ from page to page. Maybe i didnt read in to it far enough.? I also think its a very personal thing as well.

Monkey I was thinking how fun it would be for two guys like us to go to a Scientology
seminar together for the fun of it.   Start out with a 12 pack and go from there.

Re: Scientology

The first part of Dianetics was interesting, and I really thought it all through.  But then the book seemed to go off the deep end, and I couldn't go any further than the three questions you ask yourself about a decision you're about to make, something along the lines of is your decision for the good for anyone other than yourself.

Re: Scientology

Oh yea, I've always had this question.  Is Scientology completely based on this Dianetics stuff?

Re: Scientology

These folks are really gonzo...
#1 I didn't even know they had a centre in Boston, but I wish I had gone...I love how they all that the V for Vendetta masks.
#2 I think I woulda freaked out LOOOONNNNNGGG before the reporter did...And the member that he was talking to reminded me of Tom Cruise doing the interview with Matt Lauer.
#3 Getting all the information that they can and being able to get into your house is terrifying because they want to use it for blackmail and just to make sure you don't say anything against them.
#4 That's really friggin scary...a bunch of brainwashed slaves...must be nice...
#5 Freaky...betcha they use face recognition software to figure out who the photographer is so that they can follow HIM around and screw with his life.

This is right from the horse's.....mouth...

Dianetics uncovers the source of unwanted sensations and emotions, accidents, injuries and psychosomatic illnesses, and sets forth effective handlings for these conditions. Further research into the spiritual aspects of Dianetics led to the discovery of Scientology.

Scientology, on the other hand, is the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, to universes and to other life. Through the practice of Scientology one can increase his spiritual awareness and ability and realize his own immortality.

This one is really good:

This is Whackadoodle:

They don't want us poor folks who can't do anything for them in a high profile way...so "people from all walks of life" isn't really true. I saw a couple of character actors in that PSA...darn...
Look at all the celebs HERE:

I'm depressed now...MickStJohn's buddy Josef is a Scientologist...

THIS is the BEST reason NOT to be a Scientologist:

We all know how the Scientology Corporation uses its Celebrity recruits to give the Cult a FALSE air of respectability.
Less well known, however, are the Cult's INFAMOUS Celebrity membership - which includes none other than CHARLES MANSON, the lunatic responsible for the monstrous murder of actress Sharon Tate, entrepreneur Leno LaBianca and many others - and, whilst on trial, for carving a Nazi Swastika into his own forehead.

Manson was introduced to Scientology by Lanier Rayner, a cell mate at McNeil Island Penitentiary, Washington, in 1961. Manson became so obsessed with Scientology that he would speak of nothing else and, when asked by the prison service for his religion, he would reply "Scientology."
It is known that whilst serving this prison sentence, Manson took over 150 hours of Scientology training.
It has been documented that when Manson was released from prison in 1967, he had developed a philosophy of life that blended Scientology with aspects of Nietzsche. Manson was so taken by Scientology's brainwashing techniques that he bought his own e-meter.
In addition, Bruce Davis, one of Manson's gang members, had also studied Scientology (in London), before he brutally murdered Doreen Gaul and James Sharp in November 1969.
Scientology tries to distance itself from Charles Manson. However, Manson's membership of the Cult was confirmed by Paulette Cooper at the Clearwater Scientology Hearings in May 1982.
