I grew some of those big Jack-O-Lantern pumpkins and am wondering...can I make pumpkin pie out of them?
If so...does anyone have a recipe? Or as to how to cook them?
I don't see why not. I don't have a recipe, sorry, since I'm not a fan of pumpkin pie.
And give the seeds to the chickens- supposed to help keep worms at bay!
You will probably find that jack o lantern pumpkins are tough and stringy and do not make good pies. All the recipes I have ever seen for making your own pumpkin puree say to use sugar pumpkins (smaller, thicker flesh than the big ones.) If you want to try baking them, here is a link to some instructions. If you have a bunch of them, you could always try it and see how it turns out. We grew sugar pumpkins one year and made pies out of them, and they were quite good.
Oh Pedro I think I can help you out on this one easily. if you still need it let me know! Trudy
