can I post about knitting here?

I'm an avid knitter, and just wanted to share some great knitting sites I have found over the years.

www.knittinghelp.com -Amy has wonderful videos in both the american and continental style of knitting
www.knitty.com they post new patterns once a season
www.ravelry.com for knitters and crocheters; this site you have to join to have access, but it's free, and lots of patterns, and 'clubs' and stuff.

Enjoy!dancingdog

Ravelry you have to wait a bit to get in, but OH SO WORTH IT!

There are others here that knit as well. Maybe we can do crochet/knit forum? See what Steve wants to do about it... smile

www.nexstitch.com is a good one too... It has instructional videos for each stitch

Re: can I post about knitting here?

The crochet thing belongs to you all and bcm, and what you all want to do with it is up to you,
but.. if you want a category for knitting; all ya have to do is say so; I keep asking people what new categories they want to see.
As I said, I will add new categories that members request, and then I will cull categories that don't really do anything.
If a category gets started and doesn't go anywhere, I'll move the few posts (if any) to a general category.
The idea is that this part of the board can grow, evolve with the members.

So anyway... you want a separate knitting category?
Colleen has been knitting a lot longer then she has been crocheting btw big_smile

Re: can I post about knitting here?

I'm OK with knitting threads being here.

I don't knit but there are several hookers (that I  know of ) that do knit.
I say leave the knitting stuff here for now, and once there's enough interest generated in knitting, then move it to its own separate forum.  smile

Rachy- thanks for that link - I'll have to explore soon!

I'm with Banty - don't think we need another thread just yet.

Thanks all!

Re: can I post about knitting here?

I wonder what other CC members only knit and never pop in here because it's called the Hookers whatever... I wonder if maybe just changing the name would draw in more crafters and they might even see our hookers threads and want to learn! JMO Not trying to take over or nuttin' smile

Re: can I post about knitting here?

Post away about knitting!  It's one of my favorite subjects.  I am working on a knit lace scarf and I am working beads into it. I have ripped it out about 5 times because I cannot get the hang of the lace!

Re: can I post about knitting here?

I scared of lace!!!  I don't have enough patience for it - you go gal!

I mostly do hats and socks...and socks and hats....and more hats and socks!!! (mostly for charity)  heheee .   The last sweater I knit, I didn't check my gauge (d'oh!) so I had to frog the whole thing.  Now I'm knitting another sweater with (hopefully) the correct gauge!  I'm so undisciplined!

Re: can I post about knitting here?

I'm such a sock freak too!

Just wanted to share that I'm teaching a little knitting class at the shelter.  Yesterday was so cool - I had a coupla residents in my office, learning to knit and purl, and their children were playing with the TinkerToys I had brought in.  We were all chatting and laughing, and it was really a neat end of the work week!
